Thanks to all for another great party!

Thanks to everyone who joined us for our seventh annual Party In The Park! It was another great event in a great neighborhood.

We were a bit too busy during the ice cream scooping to get shots of that, but kids of all ages enjoyed wonderful ice cream courtesy of Willow Glen Creamery.

Oh, the anticipation!

Kenneth did an excellent job with barbecuing!
Neighbors brought an amazing selection of side dishes

Our produce share was fun with kale, plums, and lemons

Pretty pretty plums

Ready to eat!

Lemons were shared around with neighbors

Our most adorable Earth Day volunteer

One more photo from today -- this first grader came with his own trash picker! Thanks to both dad and son for helping out in Fuller Park today.

Thanks to our Earth Day volunteers!

We had a great group this morning for our neighborhood clean-up. They pulled weeds, picked up trash, trimmed plants, and repaired and painted a feature fence. North Willow Glen is even more beautiful thanks to the efforts of these superheroes.

Did you leave this behind tonight?

Many thanks to Councilmember Davis and SJ DOT!

Community meeting for Caltrain Electrification Project

Date: Monday, March 5
Time: 6:00 to 7:00 pm
Location: Gardner Community Center, 520 W. Virginia Street

From CalTrain's notice:
Community Meeting for Caltrain Electrification Project Please join Caltrain staff for a community meeting about Caltrain electrification. Staff will provide information about ongoing and upcoming construction activities occurring in San Jose.
Construction activities are underway in your area, and set to continue in the coming months. Upcoming work includes ongoing tree pruning/removal, utility relocation, and signal/communication equipment inspection. In mid-late March, crews will begin work on the foundations for the overhead contact system poles. The meeting will provide an opportunity for residents to learn more about the project, including the scope and schedule of upcoming construction activities.
About the Project
Caltrain electrification is a key component of the Caltrain Modernization Program that will electrify the Caltrain Corridor from San Francisco’s 4th and King Station to approximately the Tamien Station in San Jose and replace diesel-hauled trains with Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) trains. Caltrain electrification will improve Caltrain system performance, enable more frequent and/or faster train service, and reduce long-term environmental impacts by reducing noise, improving regional air quality and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Caltrain electrification is scheduled to be operational by 2022.

You can read more about this project at http://calmod.org/.

Help save the dancing pig!

Preservation Action Council of San Jose is hosting a fundraiser tomorrow, February 25, to raise money to restore the dancing pig neon sign that graced the front of Stephens Meats for more than 50 years. It's been deteriorating since the building was removed around it, and you can help get the pig dancing again.

Read more about it at http://www.preservation.org, plus detail on how you can contribute even if you cannot attend the event.

Here's what the dancing pig looked like in its heyday, in mid dance.
