Reminder: Meeting Tomorrow - CSAs, Chickens, Urban Homesteading & More
Tomorrow is the Friends & Neighbors Meeting, 6:30pm at Word of Faith Church on the corner of Delmas and Fuller. As always, we'll have updates on what's going on. But this meeting will also be your opportunity to learn about slow foods, the localize movement, and efforts to create a community garden in our midst!
Roy Nordblom, green building consultant, will talk about the "eat local" movement that is already happening in our own backyard
Debbie Palmer worked for an organic CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farm for over ten years and can answer just about any question you may have on the topic.
Debbie has also embarked on 'the backyard chicken' thing and is up for talking about that too. Already got chickens? Please come to the meeting and tell us your stories! Let's share what we know.
This will be a fun, informal discussion with plenty of Q&A time. Be sure to bring your questions for Roy and Debbie. It's sure to be interesting.

Councilmember is tonight at San Jose City College. This is your opportunity to ask the candidates questions that are important to you and your neighbors. There is free parking available in all staff and student lots after 6:00 pm. Nearest lots are A and S.

Suspicious package with threatening note found in Willow Glen
From Mercury News 9:39 am:
The San Jose Fire Department is also at the scene.
Police have evacuated neighboring businesses. Willow Glen Elementary School is under a shelter in place.
No injuries have been reported.
Motorists are asked to avoid Lincoln Avenue and seek alternate routes.
San Jose
police say they are investigating a suspicious package which contained a
threatening note at a business on Lincoln Avenue this morning.
The
San Jose police bomb squad is at the scene to determine if the package
found in the 1300 block of Lincoln Ave contains explosive materials,
according to Officer Jose Garcia. The San Jose Fire Department is also at the scene.

Farmer's Market starts this Saturday
The Willow Glen Community Farmer's Market starts this Saturday. Fruits, vegetables, foods, crafts, and more will be available from 9:30 to 1:30 every Saturday behind the Garden Theater, 1165 Lincoln. Read more about it at willowglen.org.
