(Re?) Introducing the North Willow Glen Neighborhood Association

We have had some new neighbors in the last few years and many of you have not had as many opportunities to get to know each others as we have had in the past. Here's an opportunity to learn more about your neighborhood and get involved.

North Willow Glen Neighborhood Association has been serving this community for 20 years. We are residents committed to sustaining the character of this diverse neighborhood.

NWGNA is not a HOA and we don’t collect dues. Many of our board members have been providing leadership and activities for 10+ years. What activities you ask?
  • Holiday decorations at Fuller Park and Hummingbird Park; along Fuller and Bird Avenues @ Hull, Atlanta and Fisk.
  • Party in the Park held in August (August 14, 2022 - Save the Date)
  • Semi-annual Dumpster Days
  • Open space beautification of Fuller Park, Hummingbird Park, traffic islands and across from Taqueria Tlaquepaque Restaurant.
  • We provide input to various city and county officials regarding a wide range of issues, such as public safety, maintenance of public space, railroad projects, and Housing impacts.
This is where we need your help. We know there are many neighbors who are interested in improving and preserving this neighborhood, and deserve to have their issues heard. These are possible roles that you can play in our neighborhood as part of the North Willow Glen Neighborhood Association. Each of these are two-year terms, with elections held in December.

President proposes board meeting agenda and chairs the board meeting. President provides the main point of contact for individuals and city officials to reach NWGNA. This individual also is a signer for the association’s bank account.

Vice President will chair board meetings when the President is unavailable and track progress for budget and activities assigned to other board members.

Treasurer is a signer for the association’s bank account and issues payments for goods and services approved by the board. Treasurer reports the association’s bank balance and grant funding activities during the board meeting. This person must be able to use Excel (or equivalent) to generate financial statements for the board and track funds received and spent under grant programs.

Secretary publishes the board meeting agenda in advance of the board meeting, and arranges for Zoom details to be shared with the board and invited guests. The Secretary takes minutes during those meetings and publishes the minutes within three days of the meeting.. Additional duties are writing letters on behalf of the board, and creating messaging for newsletters and activity flyers.

Social Media Specialist updates NWGNA social media sites on Facebook, NextDoor and via our neighborhood email list. This individual is instrumental in expanding our reach by establishing sites on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and emerging social sites. Experience creating visual and other media (photos, video, audio) is desired.

Advocates volunteer to provide input on NWGNA issues, activities and trends during board meetings, and distribute meeting and activity flyers approximately 3 times each year.
