Community meeting for Caltrain Electrification Project

Community Meeting for Caltrain Electrification Project Please join Caltrain staff for a community meeting about Caltrain electrification. Staff will provide information about ongoing and upcoming construction activities occurring in San Jose. 

Construction activities are underway in your area, and set to continue in the coming months. Upcoming work includes ongoing tree pruning/removal, utility relocation, and signal/communication equipment inspection. In mid-late March, crews will begin work on the foundations for the overhead contact system poles. The meeting will provide an opportunity for residents to learn more about the project, including the scope and schedule of upcoming construction activities. 

About the Project 

Caltrain electrification is a key component of the Caltrain Modernization Program that will electrify the Caltrain Corridor from San Francisco’s 4th and King Station to approximately the Tamien Station in San Jose and replace diesel-hauled trains with Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) trains. Caltrain electrification will improve Caltrain system performance, enable more frequent and/or faster train service, and reduce long-term environmental impacts by reducing noise, improving regional air quality and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Caltrain electrification is scheduled to be operational by 2022.

Help save the dancing pig!

Preservation Action Council of San Jose is hosting a fundraiser tomorrow, February 25, to raise money to restore the dancing pig neon sign that graced the front of Stephens Meats for more than 50 years. It's been deteriorating since the building was removed around it, and you can help get the pig dancing again.

Join South Bay Clean Creeks for a clean-up event

South Bay Clean Creeks Coalition is organizing a creek clean-up event in our area on March 10. See their Eventbrite posting for more information.
